MGM Live: Inside the deal bringing live dealer to Las Vegas
MGM Live creates a unique omnichannel experience, letting in-person and interactive consumers play side by side at the Bellagio and MGM Grand.
iGB content director Robin Harrison digs into the deal with Playtech chief executive Mor Weizer and MGM Resorts’ SVP and head of interactive Christian Stuart.
This makes good on MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle’s pledge to bring the land-based giant into the digital realm, Stuart explains. After “scouring the earth” for a partner capable of creating a seamless offering it ultimately selected Playtech on the strength of its technology.
MGM Live: “This is truly unique”
Weizer explains current dual play products usually offer a shot of the table only, but Playtech is going a step further with MGM Live.
Playtech aims to incorporate the venue into an immersive experience from the user at home including gaming floor shots from a network of cameras throughout the casino.
“This is truly unique,” Weizer says. “It hasn’t been done before.
“We are extremely excited about the prospect of delivering this entertainment directly from the casino floor to customers worldwide,” he adds.
And it’s only the first phase of the partnership. There are plans to roll out new Playtech games, branded TV shows and celebrity-hosted trivia contests.
“What happens in Vegas doesn’t have to stay in Vegas in this case,” Stuart adds.
